I recently posted the following on my personal Facebook profile: “Thank you German and Indian bureaucracy for being so complicated. Because of you, we have multiple wedding anniversaries -which means celebrating our wedding anniversary multiple times a year! Today, it’s the Singaporean civil wedding anniversary.”
And while it is true: inter-national weddings are a bureaucratic nightmare (at least most of the time), we are also better of then the ‘one-country only’ married couple: We get to celebrate multiple wedding anniversaries in a year!
For my husband and I, we actually have three different dates that we celebrate: An Indian Church Wedding Anniversary, a Singaporean Civil Wedding Anniversary and a German Wedding Party Anniversary 🙂
And like most couples, we celebrated our recent anniversary with a romantic and delicious dinner date. One of our favorite spots for our anniversary celebration is the Grand Hyatt in Santacruz East. Last year, we celebrated our Indian Church Wedding Anniversary there and this year, we celebrated the Singaporean Wedding Anniversary with sushi, laksa and other delicious South East Asian dishes at Fifty Five East.
We were extra lucky as we weren’t the only ones celebrating: Grand Hyatt is offering special discounts up to 50% off every 17th of the month as they are celebrating their 12th anniversary in Mumbai. Check out all the details about this special offer here.
We started our meal with a delicious and very authentic laksa soup and yong tau foo (clear veggie soup) that reminded us of our honeymoon in Singapore and Bali.
And then… we enjoyed yummilicious sushi and sashimi. You know me: I looove sushi! In fact, I love sushi so much that I recently watched a documentary called Jiro Dreams of Sushi. It’s about an 85 years-old Japanese sushi chef who runs a small sushi-only restaurant in a subway station in Tokyo (the only sushi-only Michelin 3 star restaurant in the world). You must absolutely watch it. It’s very inspiring!
And yes: I got so excited about my sushi that I forget to click a photo…
But that’s okay: When you go and enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner buffet at Fifty Five East, you can take as many photos as you want. And I would love if you share them with me on Instagram or Facebook (just tag me).
Psssst: Don’t tell anyone yet but we are cooking up a super exciting special offer for Gwenda Glocalista Card holders with Grand Hyatt Mumbai! Subscribe to the Gwenda Glocalista List to be the first one to know more about it…
